I have a daughter with my previous wife. When I entered my current wife, she (the current wife) was placed between my previous wife and me, with the result, that my daughter now has a direct line from my new wife down. That looks wrong and silly.
How to solve:
Always keep couples with children as close as possible together. If it is more than 2 couple pairs (one left, one right, one ???), maybe you can use color for the lines to better mark the relations.
