Some of the feedback I have received from people who have seen a family-website for the first time (via other channels like instant messenger) sounded like:

"after I added my brother i didnt want to go on, cause i didnt understand what my benefit should be" – Manja

"so now I dont know where else to click. What am I a supposed to do now? How can I upload some information? Is that supposed to be a blog? Only creating the tree and then looking at it doesnt make a lot of sense, does it?" - Klaus
<i>translated from this original: "weiß jetzt grad nicht mehr was ich klicken soll. (...)

What were your very first reaction when you have seen the <strong>kindo</strong>-site? Did you get the concept? Do you want to be guided a bit more? Tell us about it!

I think Klaus made a very important point there... if you don't open Kindo to the Internet, it will become an island app with os having no better use than building our tree and staring at it... i know this is the main objective, but it shouldn't be the ONLY one.. there's a few posts on the forum about ideas to import/export/share with other apps.. come on, the web is open, "mashup" is the word of the day and i think that you guys will only really differentiate kindo from other family genealogy sites if you offer real advantages.. what about a world map, for starters? ... then try adding my relatives pictures to that map (taken either from kindo or from flickr.. sorry as you've seen from my other posts i'm a huge flickr fan, ahaha...)...

anyway, i hope you get my point and i really hope this site keeps growing and growing and doesn't stagnate with no future functionalities coming further down the road..

congrats and keep up the good work !

Yup - that is the way the web is at the moment...web2.0 is all about sharing info and ease of use, but we think that most families will want to keep things private and won't want their information publicly available. Anyway, I might be completely wrong here - what do you think? Should Kindo be more open to the web?

Other things like google mashups etc. will be closed and we are planning on developing that in the future.

Thanks for the feedback though!
