Hello, this is a lovely app, well done on its development & best of luck with it!!!
The one thing that is stopping me extensively using it - is the absence of a Save/Download functionality. I don't want to spent a lot of time adding data to the service without knowing how I can save/retrieve it in the future.
Can you tell us your plans for this element of the service?
@Ivan Glad you are enjoying the app! This is something that we are thinking about developing in the future and it is on our list of new features. This feature will definitely add value to the application and is something that many users would fine useful. Thanks for the feedback ;)
I really do think you should put a statement about this somewhere.
Is this to be a free feature? Is it to be charged for? If so how much (guidelines)?
It really is a great app but in order to use it seriously, adding lots of info & encouraging family members to add info also, I would need to know how data can be retrieved.
I completely understand your point of view and I know that we should let users know that this feature will be available the future. I can say that a feature like this will most probably be free to our users as it will make the app quite attractive. I can't however give you an exact date of when it will be ready though, so like you say "check back in a couple of months". We will however keep you informed via the blog or email regarding new features, updates etc.
Perhaps as addition to the saving/download-feature, a Print-FamilyTree-Feature would be great. So, I could better show this to family members which are not familiar with the internet. (Additionaly, it would be good if additional information like Birthdate and Birthname could also be shown directly in the tree).
@JFZ All good points! Thanks for the feedback - we do plan on building these new features as they will add value to the application. Also, adding Birthdate to each profile on the tree is also something that we will definitely consider doing.
I kind of like the simplicity of the tree as it is right now... i'd prefer only having the birth/decease year/span.. but anyway that's just my opinion
another vote for the printing/saving/exporting / whatever.
and about sharing, i think I didn't mention it before : the almost obligatory facebook app.. even facebook SICKENS me and that i think it's WAY overrated, there are a few ACTUAL USES for it such as the BIRTHDAY REMINDER app (hope you're taking notes :P) and the PHONEBOOK... .. I actually looked for other family trees alternatives over there but they actually sucked... kindo seems far more promising :P
I, too, would use the app for an upcoming 100th Birthday celebration for my grandmother (who is a geneologist), but without the ability to print and/or download the family tree, it's not going to serve my needs (many of my relatives are not online). This is a very pretty and slick app though....I really look forward to seeing what new features you add.
I wouldn't even mind --minimally --some sort of textual output for the info. I am going through a choreography-of-sorts with various relatives living on various continents; would be a shame if our efforts towards understanding who-did-it-with-who would be lost because of service unavailability/tech. failures/solar flares/etc.
It doesn't matter much in the end. Our easels are impervious to asteroid impact and beagle-induced liquification.
Thanks for all the great compliments about kindo - it's really great to hear that you are enjoying the application. We have had loads of feedback regarding the printing of family trees. We are hoping to get the feature out soon, cause it will really be great for the older generation, who arn't that involved with the web.
