How do you like the zoom? Is it easy to move around your tree, especially if it is becoming bigger? Or what other functionality for the navigation would you like to see?
Maybe a small map of the whole tree where you see your window and can move it around, like on googlemaps.

Would be nice to hear your ideas.

People think the zoom is broken - the mouseover need to say "Click and hold to zoom".

zoom is not interacting with the click-and-centre on a person very well. you zoom out, the reg point is somewhere miles out.

i think the zoom buttons should depress, or be replaced with a slider

Yup - suggestions about the zoom have been noted - please view my responses to these at
http://pregnant.kindo.com/forum/discussion/9/is-your-family-tree-breaking-at-all

I am thinking that either we have a more descriptive tooltip and/or the buttons depress...

I lost the tree sometimes completely. Then you can only log out and log in againg... So maybe a "center on tree-founder" button below the zoom-buttons would be nice...

another comment from my friend was that she didn't know that she can drag the tree around as the cursor doesn't change!

I think changing the cursor to this kind of four arrows cursor would be nice

A slider instead of the zoom buttons would help for sure... It would be helpful to see at what zoom-level you are. At the moment the zoom also moves quite jerkily (at least at my computer), even though I suppose it should be continuous. Also, the font on the cards doesn´t look good at the extreme zoom levels - very fuzzy when I am zoomed out all the way and pixelated when I am all the way zoomed in. I generally hope the graphical design gets revised again because I think it looks overall somewhat cheap and not very professional. Sorry to say that but this is my first impression.

There has been a lot of feedback regarding the usability of the zoom and the tree being fuzzy on different zoom levels. These are things that we will definitely be improving on the next release and I'm sure that it will improve the overall usability of the site

@jrist:
We have got some more designers helping us out with branding, logo, tone etc. and so far they have produced some good work. There will be a few more iterations of the design ideas and hopefully when they are applied to the site it will be a lot more professional and exciting.

A suggestion: a "Search" button would be nice specially in big trees.

@gbozjr

Yup - Great suggestion! That will greatly improve the usability of the application

I'm sure someone has already mentioned this so sorry if I'm repeating it. Our tree has become quite large, now at 90 people and it's become a bit confusing because at some places the lines cross over each other, eg. the line running from my mother's cousin to his parents crosses the line joining my mother and her brother, making it look like he is a brother too. This has happened in several places. It would be good if some of the downward lines could be lengthened so that they don't cross.

Thanks Cheryl - We will have a look at that option, it might only sort the problem out temporarily though.

My tree has 167 people and it is impraticable... I wish to add more people!!!

@GianfraPa - Is your trees usability better now. We have made some serious improvements (http://kindo.com/blog/2008/01/18/kindo-gets-some-performance-improvements/en/), so let us know if its better ;)

My family tree, is huge now, but some of the families within are hidden, and you click to look at them, i think this is a very good idea.
It would be even better if you could choose which families within were hidden or not.

Can you do this already?
If not perhaps make this a function.
